Debuting in 2020 under IST Entertainment, Weeeekly quickly gained attention for their school-themed concept and catchy hits like “After School” and “Tag Me (@Me).” Comprised of seven members, the group was once seen as a refreshing force in 4th-generation K-pop with their upbeat music, youthful image, and synchronized performances.

However, the K-pop community is now reeling from the shock of Weeekly’s sudden disbandment. The group quietly released a fan song titled “Daileee” through an external production company—a heartfelt farewell that many interpret as a final message to their fandom of the same name.

Member Jihan addressed fans in a touching note:

“I know that you guys were shocked, but I hope that you guys won’t be too upset at the sudden news. What else should I say? I hope you guys will love this song, and I hope that we can have good news such as being able to meet again, for you guys soon.”

The abruptness of the situation left fans stunned. One social media user exclaimed, “Huuuuuh? They disbanded?” and added “Thank you for making it possible for us to see our girls together again, I’m just crying with joy”

Another wrote with sorrow, “The members of Weeekly were caught by surprise with the disbandment and could not greet fans properly, so they released a fan song through a private company. Please listen to ‘Daileee’ lots.”

Weeekly had been on an extended hiatus for nearly a year following their last release, “Lights Out.” On February 25, 2025, it was reported that all members had terminated their contracts with IST Entertainment. However, no official statement has been released by the company to confirm the group’s disbandment.

It is also possible that the members may continue releasing music in the future, but without using the name Weeekly due to copyright issues. Although Weeekly’s journey ends quietly, the joy and energy they brought to fans will continue to live on through their music.
